Jamaica Crime News, St James: The Barnett Street and Freeport police, in the parish of St James, say they are now asking members of the public for their assistance to identify and apprehend a group of boys who reportedly stabbed an elderly man to death at the People’s Arcade in Montego Bay on Tuesday morning of June 12th.

The deceased has been identified as Michael Cooke, a 60-year-old laborer whose address is not yet known.

Reports by the police are that shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Cooke was walking on the compound of the People’s Arcade which is located in the vicinity of the Montego Bay Transport Center. Minutes later, he was approached by a group of boys who started to mock him.

An argument developed between Coke and the boys, during what time they brandished knives and stabbed him several times to his upper body. The elderly man collapsed to the ground and the accused boys ran from the scene.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded man was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was treated and admitted in critical condition.

Coke succumbed to the stab wounds on Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 2018.
