St. James Police Point to Ex-Boyfriend as Key Suspect in Woman’s Murder

Authorities in the St James Division have identified a person of interest in connection with the tragic shooting of a woman with whom he had a past romantic relationship.

The individual, known only by the alias ‘Steven,’ hails from Rose Heights, St James, and is suspected to be the former boyfriend of the deceased.

‘Steven’  is being asked to present himself to the St James Police for questioning by midday on Tuesday, February 13.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Deneisha Samuels, also known as ‘Anna’ from Warricka Hill, Norwood, was allegedly engaged in a heated argument with ‘Steven.’ It is reported that following the altercation, ‘Steven’ left the scene only to return later in a white Toyota Axio, where he proceeded to open fire on Samuels.

The incident, occurring shortly before 9:00 pm near a popular food establishment, also resulted in the injury of another man who was present at the scene.

Authorities are urging anyone with information pertaining to the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.

In response to this tragedy, the Jamaica Constabulary Force is emphasizing the importance of resolving domestic conflicts peacefully and harmoniously.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the JCF stated, “No dispute or disagreement warrants the irreversible act of taking a loved one’s life. It is imperative to recognize that there are always more constructive and healthier methods to address differences.”

For those encountering difficulties in managing interpersonal conflicts, the JCF strongly encourages seeking support from one of their Domestic Violence Intervention Centers situated across the island. These centers offer assistance, counseling, and resources aimed at facilitating resolution within a secure and nurturing environment.
