MONTEGO BAY, St James – A St James man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting his child’s mother on two separate occasions and attacking a man she is reportedly romantically involved with.
Clifton Rose pleaded not guilty to charges of assault occasioning bodily harm, assaulting a female, and malicious destruction of property when he appeared before presiding judge Kaysha Grant-Pryce in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday.
According to court documents, on January 11, the complainant was at home with her romantic partner when Rose, the father of her child, arrived and began banging on the door.
After the woman remained silent, Rose allegedly removed the window blades and demanded she open the door. When she refused, he reportedly broke down the door, entered the house, grabbed her, and beat her with his fists.
It is further alleged that after attacking the woman, Rose went to another room, where he physically assaulted the man, before leaving the premises.
The following day, the complainant was reportedly on her way to her cousin’s home when she noticed Rose following her.
After she arrived, he allegedly knocked on the door and demanded she open it, but she refused. As she was leaving, Rose is accused of emerging from an unfinished section of the house, grabbing her by the hair, throwing her to the ground, and dragging her. The complainant reportedly suffered bruises, pain, and swelling as a result of the attack.
The incident was later reported to the police, leading to Rose’s arrest and subsequent charges.
When the case was called on Wednesday, the complainant was absent from court, prompting Judge Grant-Pryce to emphasize the importance of her attendance in the matter.
The case has been postponed, and Rose remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
