St James Couple Granted Bail

A St. James couple who were charged for breaches uder the Dangerous Drus Act were granted bail when they appeared before the St. James Parish Court on Friday, June 24.

They are 36-year- old Sheena Mithcell-Headley, a banker and 49-year-old Chad Headley, a businessman  both of Goodwill, St. James.

They were charged with the following offences:

§  Possession of cocaine

§  Dealing in Cocaine

§  Taking steps to export cocaine

§  Trafficking cocaine and,

§  Conspiracy to export cocaine

The illicit drug has an estimated street value of 550,000 USD.

Reports are that about 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 15 lawmen were in the area when a premises that was occupied by the couple was searched and Mitchell-Headley was arrested. During the operation one Toyota Prado motor car, owned by her was also searched and cocaine weighing approximately twenty-five pounds was found inside the vehicle. She was charged following an interview session in the presence of her attorney.

Following a media publication of  Chad Headly as Person of Interest in the investigation, he  eventually turned himself in to the police, and was accompanied by his attorney on June 23.

An interview was conducted in the presence of his attorney, on June 24 following which he was was also charged.

On their first appearance before the court on Friday, June 24 they were both offered bail in the sum of JMD 5 million each, with surety— they are to report on conditions of bail and are to return to court on Tuesday, July 26.
