St James Cop Arrested on Corruption Charges, Sentencing Postponed 

Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: Constable Kirton Green, the St. James Police Constable who pleaded guilty to corruption charges in the St James Parish Court last week, and was supposed to be sentenced in Court on Monday, December 10, had his sentencing postponed until January 10, 2019.

Constable Kirton Green, who is stationed at the Montego Bay Freeport Police Station, pleaded guilty to Breaches of the Corruption act and attempting to pervert the course of Justice, upon his last appearance in Court on Wednesday, December 5.

Reports by the police are that in early 2017, a Police Sergeant was attending to a case at the Freeport Station, which involved a prisoner who was taken into custody.

It is further reported that Constable Green, approached the senior officer and offered to bribe him into compromising the investigation.

A report was made to detectives attached to the Major Organized Crime Unit (MOCA) and a drag-net was staged for the corrupt cop.

Green was later  taken into custody along a section of the Freeport roadway, while he was in the process of handing money to the police Sergeant.

Upon his appearance for sentencing on Monday, Green’s Attorney, Adrian Days, asked the presiding Judge to grant him more time and Constable Green had his bail extended until January 10, when he is to return for sentencing.
