A 31-year-old farmer from the parish of St Catherine has been charged with rape following an incident on Sunday, May 5.
The accused has been identified as Jerome Hert, a farmer from the Waterford district in Guys Hill, St Catherine.
Reports indicate that around 2:00 a.m., Hert was at a party when a female attendee asked him to accompany her to her house due to the late hour.
While Hert and the woman were walking along the roadway, he allegedly forced her into an isolated area where he sexually molested her.
The incident was reported to the police, and following an investigation, Hert was taken into custody and subsequently charged with rape.
