St Ann, Jamaica – A woman charged with the fatal stabbing of her partner in February has been granted bail in the sum of $250,000.
Vanessa Gibson, 21, appeared before the Brown’s Town Parish Court last month and is scheduled to return on April 17, 2025, to answer to the charge of murder.
Reports indicate that on February 16, 2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Gibson and her partner, Swain Reeves, became involved in an altercation. During the dispute, Gibson allegedly used a knife and an ice pick to inflict multiple wounds to Reeves’ hands, upper body, and head.
Reeves was transported to Alexandria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The couple shares a child together.
Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, who heads the parish’s police division, revealed that three of the nine murders recorded in St Ann since the beginning of the year have stemmed from domestic disputes.
Authorities continue to urge residents to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts as they work to curb violent crime in the parish.
