St Catherine, Jamaica – A 47-year-old mason from Spanish Town has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he allegedly pulled a gun and opened fire on a man during a heated confrontation in the community.
The accused, Dave “Mark” Tapper, of South Montecello Crescent, has been slapped with a string of serious firearm-related charges, including:
- Wounding with intent
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Unauthorised possession of ammunition
- Using a firearm to commit a felony
The incident reportedly went down at about 11:00 p.m. on July 18, when Tapper is said to have stormed the home of a man he had an ongoing dispute with.
According to police, Tapper opened fire, hitting the man before he could flee the scene.
Despite his injuries, the victim managed to escape and later filed a report with the Spanish Town Police. He was rushed to hospital, treated, and later released.
Tapper, meanwhile, was later taken into custody, where charges were officially laid.
The police are continuing investigations, and residents are being reminded to report any suspicious or violent activity by contacting their nearest station or calling Crime Stop at 311 or Police 119.
