Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)Spanish Town Cabbies Strike: Commuters using taxi services at the Transportation Centre on Burke Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine may be stranded for some time as taxi drivers have withdrawn their services.

The operators protested in front of the police station about 10 o’clock this morning, complaining about being targeted by police officers.

The taxi operators say due to congestion in the town, they are forced to use alternative routes in breach of their licences.

As a result, the police continue to seize their vehicles of they are forced to pay a huge fine.

The operators are therefore requesting of the Transport Authority to allow them to use alternative routes when the need arises.
