Serena Continues her Bid for a Record-equaling 24th Grand Slam

The 23 Grand Slam champion Serena Williams produce yet another omnipotent performance to see off the challenge of Nina Stojanovic, 24, on Wednesday, winning in straight sets 6-3 6-0 at the Australian Open.

The 39-year-old American, The American, again sporting her distinctive one-legged leotard, needed to find her best game at times in the first set against a spirited Serbian 15 years her junior who was playing in her fourth Grand Slam.

The seven-times Australian Open champion said she was getting better at finding the all-important balance between thought and instinct when she played.

Serena is playing her 11th Grand Slam since returning from childbirth, seeking her first major title as a mom and to tie Margaret Court‘s record 24 major singles titles. Serena was runner-up at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2018 and 2019.
