Clarendon, Jamaica – A selector is among two men charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition following a police operation in Toll Gate, Clarendon, on Monday, January 27.
The accused have been identified as 22-year-old Javone Brown, also known as ‘Pitbull’, of Willow Close, Portmore Pines, St. Catherine, and 33-year-old Ricardo McKenzie, a selector from Toll Gate, Clarendon.
According to reports from the May Pen police, around 3:45 p.m., lawmen acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a house occupied by Brown and McKenzie. During the search, officers discovered a .38 Taurus pistol with five live rounds hidden inside a wardrobe in McKenzie’s bedroom.
Both men were arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
Following a caution statement, Brown and McKenzie were jointly charged on Tuesday, January 28. They are scheduled to appear before the Clarendon Parish Court on Friday, January 31.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue efforts to combat illegal firearms in the parish.
