A female passenger, identified as Tameka, died shortly after arriving at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James, on Tuesday. The circumstances surrounding her death are still unclear, as authorities continue to investigate the cause.
According to MBJ Limited, Tameka was being transported by a wheelchair agent when she suddenly appeared to be in medical distress. Airport staff, including an on-site nurse and the Emergency Medical Team, responded immediately and administered care. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Tameka became unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.
MBJ Limited confirmed the incident in a social media post, stating that the passenger’s family had been notified of the tragedy. The company expressed its condolences to Tameka’s loved ones during this difficult time.
This is the second death at the airport in recent weeks. Last month, 71-year-old Leroy Smith collapsed and died while preparing to depart the island.
The authorities are expected to provide further updates on the investigation into Tameka’s sudden death.
