ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Dr Christopher Tufton, campaign chairman for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), has firmly denied social media reports claiming he had been removed from his post.
Speaking at a JLP mass rally on Sunday, Tufton reassured supporters and the public:
“I and I still deh yah representing Andrew Holness and the Jamaica Labour Party. Don’t follow rumours.”
The remarks come three days before Jamaicans head to the polls on September 3 to elect their government. Tufton, who also serves as Minister of Health, used the rally to appeal directly to undecided voters.
“As you make up your mind, look in the mirror and ask yuhself the simple, straight [and] frank question: ‘Will I be better off over the next five years under Andrew Holness and the Jamaica Labour Party based on what they have done in the last nine years?’” he said.
He warned against taking a gamble with the nation’s future:
“‘Or should I experiment with a party that say one thing today and another thing tomorrow and not sure about wha dem ago say di next day?’ We cannot experiment with the lives of Jamaicans and their children and their family,” Tufton added.
The campaign chairman’s statement reinforces his continued commitment to the JLP’s final push before election day, emphasizing stability and experience over political uncertainty.
