Reggae Sumfest to Honour Fantan Mojah

ST ANN, Jamaica — Reggae Sumfest organisers have announced that the late reggae artiste Fantan Mojah will be honoured during A Taste of Reggae Sumfest on Saturday, July 18, at Plantation Cove in St Ann.

The tribute comes just days after the acclaimed conscious reggae singer passed away at the age of 49. Organisers said the segment will celebrate his life, musical contributions and lasting impact on Jamaican reggae music.

Chief Executive Officer of Reggae Sumfest, Joe Bogdanovich, described Fantan Mojah as “a true soldier for reggae music,” noting that his lyrics carried purpose, his performances were heartfelt, and his commitment to uplifting people through music never wavered.

Bogdanovich said the festival was deeply saddened by the singer’s passing and that the July 18 event would honour his artistry, his legacy and the significant impact he made on reggae music and the Sumfest family.

Fantan Mojah, known for songs such as Hail the King and Corruption, built a reputation as one of reggae’s leading conscious voices, using his music to promote messages of faith, justice and African pride. His powerful performances and unwavering commitment to cultural music earned him a loyal following in Jamaica and abroad.

The artiste last performed on the Reggae Sumfest stage in 2025, delivering a memorable set that organisers said reflected his passion, authenticity and enduring connection with reggae fans.

The special tribute is expected to bring together patrons, fellow artistes and members of the reggae fraternity to celebrate Fantan Mojah’s life and remarkable contribution to Jamaican music. His influence, organisers said, will continue to resonate long after the final note is played.
