Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will square off against St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the qualifying rounds for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, it was confirmed on Wednesday. The match-up, scheduled for March 2025, comes after the Boyz were eliminated from the Concacaf Nations League in the quarter-finals by defending champions United States on Monday.
Following their exit from the Nations League, the Reggae Boyz are among 14 national teams that must compete in home-and-away play-offs to secure a place in the Gold Cup. According to Concacaf, seven of these countries will advance to the group stages of the tournament.
Concacaf has ranked the participating teams from 1 to 14 based on their standings in the Concacaf rankings. The draw ensures that Jamaica, ranked second, will face the 13th-ranked St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the two-legged qualifier.
The winner of this play-off will earn a coveted spot in the group stage of the 2025 Gold Cup, set to begin later next year. The format of the qualifiers provides both teams with an opportunity to showcase their strength, with the first leg set to be hosted in Jamaica and the return leg in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
As the Reggae Boyz look to recover from their Nations League disappointment, this qualifier represents their next challenge in pursuit of regional glory at the prestigious Gold Cup.
