Latest Jamaica News, St Ann: Popular St Ann recording artist 26-year-old Alwayne Moncrieffe, otherwise called “Chipstar” of main street in Ohio Rios, and his close friend Marlon Speid, otherwise called “Jah Blacks Lacka” were both shot and killed at a shop in Pineapple, Ocho Rios on Thursday morning.
Reports are that about 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, the entertainer and the producer were among a group of patrons at a shop, when men armed with handguns entered the establishment.
The men opened fire hitting both men, before escaping in the area.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Moncrieffe and Speid were rushed to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Moncrieffe who was creating quite a stir in the music fraternity had just released an album entitled “The Raw Truth”, which features singles such as “American Dream”, “No Groundzing”, “Circle and Bad Energy”.
Speid is known for his contribution to music as co-owner of Lacka Squad Records and also as an upcoming recording artist.
The death of both men left a damper in the Emancipation activities across the parish of St Ann, and also on other entertainers across western Jamaica.
