PORTLAND, Jamaica : Port Antonio High Student in Custody — A 15-year-old student of Port Antonio High School is in police custody following the fatal stabbing of a man during a confrontation in Port Antonio, Portland.
According to police reports, the incident stemmed from a dispute involving a group of boys who were allegedly gambling near a sanitary facility along Foreshore Road.
Investigators say an argument developed, after which three students reportedly left the area and later returned accompanied by three adult men, including the deceased.
It is alleged that the group attacked the 15-year-old student during the ensuing confrontation. During the altercation, the teenager is accused of using a knife to stab one of the men.
The injured man was rushed to hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident as they continue to gather statements and determine the events that led to the fatal encounter.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Authorities are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact the Portland police.
