Pope Francis remains in stable condition after being hospitalized for two weeks with double pneumonia, the Vatican announced on Saturday, though officials have yet to provide a prognosis.
The 88-year-old pontiff reportedly suffered a breathing crisis on Friday but has since shown no further complications. According to the latest medical update, he continues to receive oxygen therapy but has not developed a fever.
“The clinical conditions of the Holy Father have remained stable,” the Vatican statement said, noting that Francis has been alternating between non-invasive mechanical ventilation and high-flow oxygen treatment. His heart rate and blood pressure remain within normal ranges.
Despite his illness, Pope Francis has been actively cooperating with his medical team, undergoing respiratory physiotherapy and maintaining his regular meals. Vatican officials also confirmed that he has remained mentally alert, received the Eucharist, and spent time in prayer on Saturday.
While no timeline has been given for his recovery, the Vatican maintains that his condition is being closely monitored.
