Kingston, Jamaica — More than a year after the fatal shooting of Christopher Taylor in Kingston, police investigators have arrested and charged 25-year-old Ryan McFarlane, otherwise known as “Engine,” in connection with the crime.
McFarlane, a resident of Oxford Street in Kingston, was charged on Friday with multiple offences, including murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and making use of a firearm to commit a felony.
Taylor, 31, was gunned down on October 12, 2023, at the intersection of North and Oxford Streets in Kingston. Reports indicate that around 1:54 a.m., he was standing at the location when a group of armed men ambushed him. The attackers opened fire, hitting Taylor in the upper body before fleeing on foot along Oxford Street. He was later pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital.
After extensive investigations, McFarlane was taken into custody last Saturday. He was placed on an identification parade on Wednesday, where he was positively identified. Following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney, he was officially charged.
The Kingston Western police continue their investigations as they work to bring all responsible parties to justice.
