Policeman Shot and Killed on Beechwood Avenue in St Andrew

St Andrew, Jamaica – A policeman was shot and killed early Saturday morning on Beechwood Avenue in St Andrew.

The deceased has been identified as Corporal Christopher Smith, who was assigned to the Kingston Western Police Division.

According to reports, Corporal Smith was at the Texaco gas station on Beechwood Avenue during the early hours when he was attacked by gunmen. The assailants shot him multiple times and took his firearm before fleeing the scene.

Smith was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the attack as efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible.
