St. Catherine, Jamaica – A police sergeant is currently receiving medical treatment after accidentally shooting himself while at the Spanish Town Hospital last night.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. while the sergeant was accompanying another individual to the hospital. The circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge of the firearm remain unclear.
The sergeant reportedly sustained injuries to his scrotum.
Both the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and the police’s Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau have launched separate inquiries into the incident.
