WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Detectives attached to the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station say they are pursuing all leads as they investigate the killing of a woman who was found shot dead inside her home on Tulip Lane in Negril.
The deceased has been identified as Shawana Thompson, otherwise known as “Brains.”
According to police reports, Thompson was last seen on Friday at the Negril Police Station and the Savanna-la-Mar Parish Court, where she was reportedly handling documents to secure bail for a man facing murder charges since last September.
Investigators further reported that about 11:00 p.m. on Friday, two men travelling on motorcycles arrived at Thompson’s home and opened fire on the premises. Thompson was reportedly shot in the head.
On Saturday morning, a concerned relative went to check on her after she had not been seen. The relative discovered Thompson lying in a pool of blood inside the house with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head.
The police were summoned and processed the scene before removing the body to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
Detectives say they are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation as they work to establish a motive and identify those responsible for the fatal shooting.
