Police Officer Caught Selling Stolen Motor Vehicle, Arrested for Breaches of the Corruption Act

Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: In just under a week the Jamaica Constabulary Force has taken another police officer into custody for Breaches of the Corruption Act after he was caught in possession of a stolen motor vehicle in Kingston on Thursday, June 21, 2018.

The name of the accused cop has been given as, Constable Joel Lewis, who is based at the Barnett Street Police Station in Montego Bay but hails from Spanish Town in St Catherine.

St James Police Officer Caught in Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle Charged 

Reports are that on Thursday morning the police officer was in the process of selling a Nissan AD Wagon to a female buyer in Kingston.  The actions of the policeman arose the suspicions of the prospective buyer who called in the police and asked for the registration plate to be checked.

It was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from a location in Portmore on June 14th. The police officer attempted to flee the scene and it is reported that he ran inside a KFC Fast Foods Outlet which is located on Angels Plaza where he threw the keys to the vehicle in a garbage bin.

The policeman was held and after viewing the surveillance cameras, the keys were recovered. He is now facing charges of Larceny of Motor Vehicles.
