St James: Police Kill Three Gunmen in Salt Spring

St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Police Kill Three Gunmen in Salt Spring: Three gunmen were shot and killed in an alleged confrontation with the police in one of the inner city communities in St James on Thursday morning.

According to reports, at approximately 5:30 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017, the police were on an operation in Salt Spring when they were greeted with gunfire as they approached a specific house.

The police took evasive action and returned the fire. When the dust settled, three men were found suffering from gunshot wounds. The men were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Two of the dead men have been identified as Christopher Thorpe and Omar Sawyers, both of Salt Spring, St James. The police say two handguns were recovered following the shooting incident.

The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) has commenced its investigations into the incident.
