Police Investigate Possible Gang Link after Fatal Shooting of Grange Hill High Student

Westmoreland, Jamaica: Grange Hill High Student Shot Dead – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal attack in Westmoreland, as 16-year-old Carson Barrett, a resident of Top Lincoln in Grange Hill.

The chilling events transpired on Thursday afternoon as Barrett, along with a 15-year-old female companion, was leaving school.

Reports indicate that the pair was set upon by unknown assailants, leading to Barrett’s untimely demise. While the young girl sustained gunshot wounds during the assault, her injuries are reportedly non-life-threatening, according to law enforcement sources.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police suggest a potential link to gang-related activity, shedding light on the underlying factors driving the violence. Eyewitness accounts detail the ambush, with two individuals on a motorcycle launching the attack as Barrett and his companion walked along the roadway leaving school.

As the assailants unleashed gunfire, Barrett and his companion fled in a bid to escape the danger. Tragically, Barrett found himself pursued by one of the attackers, ultimately succumbing to multiple gunshot wounds near the Monument at Belle Isle Road.

Meanwhile, the injured female student sought refuge back at the school before receiving medical attention.
