Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of Taxi Operator on Red Hills Road

St Andrew, Jamaica— Police have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a taxi operator on Red Hills Road in St Andrew on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Lashawn Heslop, a resident of Golden Spring in St Andrew.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. Heslop was sitting in his taxi near the Grace Reformed Baptist Church and the Sandy Gully bridge when an armed man approached him on foot.

The assailant opened fire, hitting Heslop multiple times in the upper body before fleeing the scene. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Heslop was pronounced dead upon arrival.

As the investigation continues, police are working to determine the motive behind the killing. No arrests have been made so far, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
