A police constable is presently receiving treatment at a hospital for injuries sustained during a robbery at a business establishment on Constant Spring Road in St. Andrew.
According to reports from the Half Way Tree Police, around 11:20 a.m., the officer entered the store amidst the ongoing robbery. Upon encountering him, one of the armed assailants fired at the officer, prompting him to take evasive action and return fire. The perpetrators managed to flee the scene.
During the incident, the store owner was also stabbed and subsequently required medical attention. Investigators suspect that one of the robbers sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange.
Authorities are currently in pursuit of a female suspect believed to be involved in the robbery and linked to other recent robberies in the vicinity. They urge the public to come forward with any information by contacting Crime Stop at 311, Police Emergency at 119, the NIB Tip Line at 811, or the nearest Police Station.
The Police High Command continues to emphasize vigilance among its members due to the inherently violent nature of their work environment.
