Police Constable and Female Killed in Spanish Town Accident

Jamaica News, St Catherine: Police Constable and Female Killed The police in St. Catherine have now confirmed that one of the victims who died in a motor vehicle accident, which occurred along a section of the Dam Head main road, in Crescent district, Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Tuesday morning, April 16, is a Police Constable.

He has been identified as 28-year-old Constable Rammone Javon Smith of Banbury district in Linstead, St. Catherine. The police have still not released the name of the other victim, who is a female.

Reports are that, shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Smith and the female were travelling in a Nissan AD wagon motor car,  along a section of Dam Head main road in Spanish Town area.

On reaching a section of the roadway, the policeman’s vehicle collided head-on with a motor truck, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Smith and the female passenger sustained head and body injuries. They were both pinned in the wreckage for some time until they were cut free by members of the fire department.

It is also reported that the driver of the truck and his passenger also sustained injuries. All four victims were rushed to hospital, where Corporal Smith and the female were pronounced dead, and the other two victims admitted in stable condition.
