The St Mary police have identified the murder victim found wrapped in a tarpaulin on Sunday in Devon Pen as 16-year-old Jadene Gayle, also known as “Big Red,” from Mountain View, St Andrew.
Her body was discovered along the main road by residents around 4 p.m.
Authorities revealed that Jadene was pregnant at the time of her death, further compounding this devastating tragedy.
The police have since named Jadene’s 39-year-old boyfriend as a person of interest in her murder. He was arrested on Tuesday at his home on Sligo Road and is now being questioned.
Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace has urged anyone with information to step forward by contacting the Port Maria Police at 876-994-4222, Crime Stop at 311, or their nearest police station.
