A 55-year-old St Ann businesswoman has been formally charged following an investigation into the theft of dozens of electronic devices from a commercial establishment in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Police identified the accused as Pansy Henry of Claremont district. In a statement released Thursday, investigators from the St Catherine North Division confirmed that she faces charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit housebreaking and larceny involving a shop.
Reports from the Spanish Town police indicate that Henry is accused of working with several men — who were previously charged — in connection with a break-in at a business location last month. Authorities allege that the stolen items were later delivered to her.
Investigators say the devices were wrapped in foil in an apparent effort to interfere with tracking signals. The items reportedly include 59 smartphones, 11 tablets, and one laptop computer.
Law enforcement officials said Henry was taken into custody during the probe and subsequently charged after participating in a question-and-answer interview conducted in the presence of her attorney.
She is expected to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on February 10.
