PM Vows Justice for Cherry Tree Lane Massacre Victims

Clarendon, Jamaica:  Justice for Cherry Tree Lane Victims – Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, has pledged that “no stone will be left unturned” in the hunt for those responsible for the horrific gun attack that claimed the lives of eight people on Sunday night, August 11.

During a visit to the grief-stricken community on Monday, August 12, the Prime Minister met with the families of the victims and local residents. In a firm address, he assured the community that every available resource will be deployed to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We are going to put the resources behind it and will find the people who are responsible. We will go after all the gangs, their connections, links, and persons who facilitate their activities,” Holness declared, emphasizing that the government will support the security forces with the necessary tools, whether through financing, international cooperation, or legislative means.

Holness condemned the attack, describing it as a “calculated” act of terror meant to instill fear in the community. He warned the perpetrators that they would either face the courts or meet a more final reckoning, stating, “They might either meet a judge or meet their maker; whichever one they choose, but Jamaica cannot countenance this kind of crime.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted the increased focus on dismantling organized crime and targeting those who fund and orchestrate violence across the nation. He reiterated his commitment to eradicating gang activity, stating, “I am absolutely resolved that we will conquer this problem.”

In a direct appeal to residents, Holness urged anyone with information about the murders to come forward and cooperate with the police. “You are doing yourself a favor by sharing the information. The gangs have managed to convince citizens that they are protectors, but the innocent people must see the police as being on their side,” he said.

The Prime Minister’s visit and strong words have brought some reassurance to the shaken community, as the nation waits for justice to be served in this tragic case.
