A Change.org petition demanding the deportation of rapper Nicki Minaj from the United States has gained significant traction, crossing more than 70,000 signatures as of midweek.
The petition emerged following Minaj’s recent high-profile appearance at a Turning Point USA event, a conservative political organization. Critics cited the appearance as evidence of a shift in her public persona, a move that has drawn backlash from portions of her fan base and the wider public.
Earlier this year, Minaj was also involved in a highly publicized dispute with Jay-Z and Roc Nation. The petition claims her recent actions are harmful and portrays her as unfit to remain in the United States, though no legal basis for deportation has been established.
The campaign was created by an individual using the name “Pedonika Minaj,” a username that appears to be a play on the rapper’s nickname “Barbie” while also referencing her husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender. The petition page includes multiple past booking photos of Petty from mandatory registry check-ins.
In addition, the petition criticizes Minaj for publicly defending her husband and references previous allegations that she attempted to intimidate individuals connected to his case. Minaj has previously denied wrongdoing related to those claims.
