Montego Bay, St. James – Giovanni Ellis, the 39-year-old man identified as the primary person of interest in the brutal rape and murder of nine-year-old Kelsey Ferrigon, has been killed in a confrontation with the police.
Reports are that a police team from St. Catherine tracked Ellis to Clarendon, where the confrontation occurred, resulting in him being fatally shot. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a firearm was seized following the incident.
Ellis, also known as “Coolie Man,” had been the subject of an island-wide manhunt since Kelsey’s partially naked body was discovered in a horrific state around 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening, at her home in Job Lane, St. Catherine. The child was found upside down in a barrel, a discovery that has sent shockwaves of grief and anger throughout the nation.
The tragic death of Kelsey Ferrigon has left the nation in deep mourning, with many demanding swift justice for the heinous crime.
