Peabo Bryson dies at the age of 75, according to reports from family members who confirmed that the celebrated singer passed away on Tuesday after suffering a stroke.
In a statement released to media outlets, Bryson’s family said they were announcing his death with “broken hearts and profound sadness.” They noted that the two-time Grammy Award-winning artist was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
The legendary vocalist built a career spanning decades and became widely recognized for his powerful ballads, romantic duets, and contributions to some of Disney’s most beloved films. His signature performances on “Beauty and the Beast” and “A Whole New World” helped cement his place in music history.
Bryson teamed up with Celine Dion for the 1991 hit “Beauty and the Beast,” a song that earned widespread acclaim and became one of Disney’s most memorable soundtracks. He later partnered with Regina Belle on “A Whole New World” from the 1992 animated film “Aladdin.” The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first track from an animated movie to achieve that milestone.
