Online Passport Application System Coming In 2017

Kingston, Jamaica (McN) – Minster of National Security Hon. Robert Montague toured the office of the Passport Immigration and Citizenship (PICA) this past Thursday – with much awaited news of an online passport application system.

In a meeting with the management team of PICA, Minster Montague outlined that 2017 will see the implementation of Jamaica’s online passport applications and renewal system.

He went on to inform the team that there are ongoing negotiations with vendors to facilitate an electronic passport system at the island’s airports; which will reduce the processing and wait time for checking in and out.

“This is the year of implementation. We intend to use the resources that we have and to obtain more resources in order to create speedier processes. A visitor to the island should not have to wait five hours in an immigration line before their vacation begins,” he stated.
