One of two robbers, who reportedly broke into a cook shop, in the vicinity of Harbour Circle, in Montego Bay, St James, on Sunday, February 21, was set upon, and chopped to death by angry residents.
Reports by the Barnett Street police are that about 3:00 am, two robbers broke in Dave’s Cook Shop located along Harbour Circle.
Residents in the surrounding were alerted that a robbery was in progress at the establishment, and went to investigate.
It is further reported that, one of the robbers attacked the residents with a machete, and he was overpowered, held, beaten, and chopped by the angry residents. The other robber managed to escape in the area on foot.
The police were also summoned, and upon the arrival of the lawmen, the unidentified robber was found with multiple chop wounds, lying on the sidewalk, in the vicinity of the cookshop.
The scene was processed and the body was removed to the morgue for a post mortem examination.
