St Ann, Jamaica: A female student at Ocho Rios High School in St. Ann is in the hospital with gunshot wounds after being accidentally shot by a schoolmate on Monday afternoon.
According to police reports, a male student brought a firearm to school and, while showing it to other students, accidentally discharged the weapon, injuring the girl.
The injured student was rushed to the hospital by administrative staff, where she is in serious but stable condition.
The police were summoned, the firearm was seized, and the student responsible has been taken into custody.
