Ninjaman hospitalized

Incarcerated dancehall veteran Ninjaman has been hospitalized with an undisclosed illness at a medical facility in St Andrew.

“He was admitted to a medical facility yesterday and they are planning to do the surgery today. He has been complaining of feeling pain for a while now and, with the cold weather, he is in excruciating pain so it had to be done.

Ninjaman, whose birth name is Desmond Ballentine, was sentenced to life imprisonment in December last year in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston.

e is serving the sentence for the 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson, aka Ricky Trooper. Ballentine will not be eligible for parole until serving 25 years.

On the count of shooting with intent, Ninjaman was sentenced to 20 years, which will run concurrent with the murder sentence. Ninjaman’s son Janeil was also sentenced to life in prison, the same as Dennis Clayton, for Johnson’s death.
