Westmoreland, Jamaica: A Negril businessman was shot dead and a tourist injured during a violentcc robbery at a restaurant along Norman Manley Boulevard in Westmoreland on Friday night.f
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Nashon McGibbon, otherwise called “Bubba,” operator of Flag City Restaurant in Negril.
According to reports from the Negril police, the incident occurred about 8:40 p.m. while McGibbon was at the establishment with employees and a female tourist from the Czech Republic.
Investigators say two armed men travelling on a motorcycle arrived at the location wearing hooded clothing and immediately opened gunfire before demanding cash.
During the attack, McGibbon reportedly tried to flee the scene but was chased into a nearby open area where he was shot multiple times.
Police reported that the attackers stole two bags containing cash before escaping on the motorcycle.
The Czech tourist sustained a gunshot wound to her left shoulder and was transported to hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition.
He was later taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The killing of the Negril businessman has sparked concern among residents and business operators in the resort town, as police continue investigations into the deadly robbery.
No arrests have been made.
