NCB Employee Sentenced: Former National Commercial Bank (NCB) employee Khadene Thomas has been sentenced to 24 months in prison following her guilty plea for defrauding three customers of the bank, amounting to a total of J$74.5 million.
The sentence was handed down on Thursday at the St Ann’s Parish Court.
In February, Thomas confessed to three charges of larceny as a servant and 31 counts of uttering forged documents.
She was initially charged with larceny and cybercrime offences in January 2023. According to reports, during her tenure in NCB’s wealth advisor department spanning two years, Thomas forged clients’ signatures on debit instruments to debit their accounts and transfer funds to various accounts, including her own.
Investigations revealed that Thomas misappropriated US$407,472.47 and J$10,159,310.04, amounting to a total of J$74.5 million.
Earlier this month, she was also instructed to fully reimburse the stolen amount.
