Manchester, Jamaica – A man identified by police as a murder suspect was fatally shot, and a policeman was wounded during an early morning operation in Downs, Manchester, on Wednesday.
According to preliminary reports, around 4:10 am, police officers were conducting an operation in the Downs district to apprehend the suspect when they came under gunfire. The police returned fire, injuring the suspect. He was subsequently taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name.
Meanwhile, a policeman sustained injuries during the shootout. However, his bulletproof vest prevented any life-threatening harm. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
During the incident, law enforcement officials seized a firearm.
