The Ocho Rios police in St Ann have launched an investigation following the fatal shooting of a raft operator on Thursday night.
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Troy Cooper, also known as ‘Slaughter,’ of Prosper Hall, Exchange, St Ann.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. Cooper was reportedly at a bar, socializing with friends, when a man dressed entirely in black approached him. After a brief conversation, an explosion was heard, and Cooper was discovered with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, and the police arrived at the scene. The area was cordoned off, and investigators conducted a thorough processing of the crime scene. Cooper was pronounced dead shortly after the arrival of the authorities.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no suspects have been apprehended at this time. The Ocho Rios police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
