Montego Bay, Jamaica: Multi-Million Dollar Robbery – The Barnett Street police in Montego Bay, St. James, have launched a manhunt for a group of robbers who executed a multi-million dollar heist at the HTC Supermarket on Barnett Street over the weekend.
Reports indicate that the Chinese operators securely locked up the supermarket on Saturday night and went home.
When they returned on Sunday morning at around 9:00 a.m., they discovered that the robbers had gained entry by drilling a large hole in the roof of the top floor and cutting a lock to access the supermarket section.
The robbers made off with more than one million Jamaican dollars in cash, $2,000 USD, and over forty cartons of cigarettes.
The police were summoned to the scene, which was processed, and an investigation has been launched.
