Clarendon, Jamaica – A man was killed in a motor vehicle accident on the Palmers Cross main road in Clarendon on Thursday.
The victim, 30-year-old Anthony Hamilton, a construction worker from Rhules Pen, lost his life when his motorcycle collided with a white Nissan AD Wagon near Queens Plaza around 3 p.m.
According to police reports, the Nissan was traveling towards Bustamante Highway when the driver attempted a right turn, crossing into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The resulting collision was severe, and despite efforts to save him, Hamilton was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Following the incident, Sergeant Robert Richards, the traffic sub-officer for Clarendon, emphasized the need for road safety. He urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, use indicators, and maintain safe speeds. Richards also highlighted the importance of motorcyclists wearing helmets and ensuring their vehicles are roadworthy to help prevent such tragedies.
