Scores of well-wishers and grieving family members gathered at the St. John Bercham Roman Catholic Church in Pisgah, St Elizabeth, on Saturday, February 2, to pay their last respects to Patrenia Grace McDonald, the 44-year-old, female farmer who was said to have been stabbed to death by her own son in Berkshire, Westmoreland, Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
The very large crowd could barely fit on the compound of the Catholic Church, which in no way was prepared for such a large turn out of people.
The thanksgiving service was well put together, and a compiled amount of tributes were done by community members and McDonald’s entire family, both locally and abroad.
At the end of the Thanks Giving Service, the large crowd journeyed to the family plot at Breadnut Hill, in Westmoreland, where McDonald was laid to rest.
The Bethel Town police reported that Patrenia McDonald was stabbed to death by her 13-year-old, son about 7:40 p.m., on December 5th, while she lay in bed at her home in Berkshire, Westmoreland watching television.
Since the incident, the teenage boy who attends the St Elizabeth Technical High School is been housed at a correctional Centre in Kingston and is going through a series of psychiatric evaluation.
Many are still puzzled as to what really took place that night, while others who still believed that the child is not capable of committing such an act, say they now believe that this was the work of the devil.
