Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) — Prime Minister Andrew Holness brought the fire to the stage in Sam Sharpe Square on Sunday night, August 23, as he boldly declared that under a third term Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) government, nearly one million Jamaicans will finally get the running water they’ve been waiting for!
Speaking at a massive rally in the heart of Montego Bay, Holness said his government is on a mission to end water woes for the 900,000 Jamaicans currently suffering from little to no water supply.
“Since our administration, we have delivered water to 350,000 households that have not had water for their entire lives,” Holness told the roaring crowd. “In our next term, we will deliver water to 900,000 Jamaicans who either have no water or have water in inconsistent supply!”
Holness cited several major water projects already under way, including:
- The Pedro Plains Water Supply Project in St Elizabeth
- Works in Clarendon and Manchester
- And a major pipeline bringing water from the Rio Cobre in St Catherine to Kingston and St Andrew.
But that’s not all! The JLP leader rolled out more ambitious plans, vowing to deliver:
- 8,000 new houses in St Thomas
- New housing schemes for Hopewell and Lucea in Hanover
- 50,000 new housing units across St Catherine
- And the repair of another 660 roads under the SPARK programme — matching the 660 already underway.
“The more houses go on the market, the more the price of the houses will go down,” he declared, addressing Jamaica’s ongoing housing crunch.
The promises came just after the unveiling of the JLP’s brand-new ‘I Choose Jamaica’ manifesto, aimed at fast-tracking development and targeting Jamaicans of all ages and backgrounds.
As the countdown to the September 3 general election heats up, Holness made it clear — a vote for the JLP is a vote for progress, prosperity, and pipe water!
