Montego Bay Serial Killer to Face High Court Trial: Ronaldo Ricketts, accused of murdering multiple homeless individuals in Montego Bay between July and August of last year, will face trial following a court ruling on Monday. Trial judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton deemed the evidence presented before the St James Parish Court compelling enough to warrant transferring the case to the High Court.

During previous proceedings, it was revealed that Ricketts had undergone psychiatric evaluation and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Despite this diagnosis, the evaluation affirmed his fitness to plead. In light of the judge’s ruling, the case has been transferred to the St James Circuit Court for mention on September 30, with Ricketts remanded in police custody. He is represented by attorney-at-law Henry McCurdy.

Ricketts’ legal troubles began on August 30, 2023, when he was arrested by police in relation to a charge of abduction. Allegations state that he picked up a complainant along Humber Avenue in downtown Montego Bay, drove her to Melville Hall Avenue, and threatened her with a knife, demanding sex. The quick actions of the woman, who managed to escape and call for help, led to Ricketts’ apprehension by patrolling officers.

While in custody for the abduction incident, Ricketts reportedly confessed to the gruesome murders of four homeless individuals in various sections of Montego Bay between July 28 and August 20 of the same year. The victims were allegedly stabbed with a sharp instrument while they slept, painting a chilling picture of the accused serial killer’s alleged crimes.
