Missing Girl Found in Ewarton, Alleged Kidnapping Ring with Cult Links Uncovered

Ewarton, St Catherine – The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says it has successfully located a schoolgirl who had been missing for more than a week, in a case that has since unravelled into a suspected kidnapping ring with alleged ties to a religious cult.

According to police reports, the teen was discovered hidden under a bed during an operation in Ewarton, St Catherine. The shocking find has led to the arrest of three adults, including the girl’s aunt—who investigators believe is the mastermind behind the abduction.

Also taken into custody were another woman and a man said to be a pastor. The three are currently being questioned by investigators.

Two minors were also found at the premises and have been taken into protective custody.

Deputy Superintendent Susan Bruce, head of the National Strategic Anti-Gang Division (NSAD) of the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC), said the investigation began on April 7 as a missing person case. It quickly escalated into a wider probe after leads pointed to an organised group involved in the teen’s disappearance.

“This is a deeply disturbing situation,” DSP Bruce stated. “The fact that the child was found concealed in such a manner suggests there were plans to keep her hidden for an extended period. We are now investigating the possibility of a wider network with cult-like elements.”

DSP Bruce also condemned what she described as “predatory behaviour” from individuals who have attempted to exploit the girl’s mother since the teen was found. She urged the public to be sensitive and allow law enforcement to carry out its work without interference or sensationalism.

The investigation is ongoing, and the JCF says additional arrests could follow as it explores all angles of what appears to be a complex and potentially far-reaching operation.
