Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: The St Catherine police have reported that, criminal charges have now been laid against the two men who were arrested last Thursday, June 7, in connection with the seizure of cash amounting to J$35 million at a premises in Old Harbor, St Catherine.
Six high-end vehicles were also seized during the operation.
The two men charged have been identified as 33-year-old Lawrence Pommells, Engineer employed to NESOL formally Rural Electrification along with 32-year- old Ricardo Harris, a mechanic and both of Old Harbor.
Both men have been charged with Money Laundering (Possession of Criminal Property) and Bribery (Breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act)
Reports are that, last Thursday morning, June 7, officers attached to the Financial Investigation Unit and C-TOC carried out an operation at the premises in Old Harbor where they seized the cash along with the motor vehicles.
It is also alleged that one of the accused males made a bribery attempt towards the officers while stating that the cash was given to them by a popular Politician to be invested.
