Kingston, Jamaica – Popular media personality Yanique Barrett, widely known as the “Curvy Diva,” has been formally charged with simple larceny, housebreaking, and malicious destruction of property following an alleged incident on Dunrobin Avenue in July 2023.
Police reports indicate that the incident occurred on the evening of July 12, around 7:28 p.m., when the owner of a business premises securely locked his establishment before leaving. Barrett, 39, who reportedly had a prior business relationship with the owner, was allegedly observed on the property with a locksmith shortly after.
Upon being alerted, the owner returned to find the locks severed, several pieces of furniture and other items missing, and structural damage to the building.
Barrett was formally charged on Thursday, December 5, following months of investigations. She is set to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, December 12, to answer to the charges.
The case has drawn significant public interest due to Barrett’s celebrity status as a prominent media figure. Law enforcement officials continue to emphasize the importance of legal proceedings being followed to ensure justice is served.
Efforts to reach Barrett’s legal representatives for comment were unsuccessful.
